    When sizing your kitchen islands allow a large enough walk aisle for your kitchen work space. NKBA guidelines state you should have 42" between your kitchen cabinet countertop and your kitchen island countertop for one person, and for a two person work aisle it is recommended to have at least 48" between the kitchen countertop and kitchen island countertop.
